What intensity actually means
Intensity is our 1 to 12 scale for roast depth and body, not caffeine. A 12 is darker and fuller, not stronger in caffeine. The pod range runs from 8 to 9.

A Brazilian base carries the chocolate and the caramel. Ethiopian, Kenyan and Central American beans go in over the top for cocoa and a lift of citrus. That's a lot of work for a cup most people drink on a Saturday in a dressing gown, which is more or less the point.
