A Guide to Choosing Your Grind & Brew Method

The secret to a perfect cup often lies in matching the coffee to your equipment. While we offer a versatile "omni-grind" suitable for most home setups, understanding how our coffee interacts with different methods will help you find your perfect match.

Ground Coffee for Cafetière (French Press): For those who love a heavy, textured body, a coarser grind is key. Our blends are roasted to withstand the long immersion time of a cafetière without becoming bitter, resulting in a rich, velvety cup.

Ground Coffee for AeroPress: The AeroPress is a playground for coffee lovers. Whether you prefer the inverted method or the traditional plunge, our ground coffee offers the clarity and punch needed for this versatile brewer.

Filter & Drip Coffee: If you use a V60, Chemex, or an electric filter machine, you’ll find our medium-roast grounds provide the perfect flow rate for a clean, vibrant morning brew.

Moka Pot & Espresso: For those who crave intensity, our darker roasts are ground to a consistency that thrives under pressure, delivering a syrupy, concentrated "stove-top espresso" experience.

Expertly Sourced Origins & Roast Levels

Our range is a curated map of the world’s best coffee-growing regions. We source high-quality Arabica and Robusta beans from Central and South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.

We categorise our range by intensity and roast level to help you navigate:

Light-Medium Roasts: Perfect for those who enjoy bright, fruity, or floral notes. These highlight the unique characteristics of the bean’s origin.

Medium-Dark Roasts: Our "sweet spot." These blends, like our fan-favourite Brunch Blend, offer balanced notes of chocolate and caramel with a smooth finish.

Dark Roasts: For the bold. Expect deep, smoky, and intense flavours (Intensity 10+) that cut through milk perfectly, making them ideal for lattes and flat whites.

Whether you are looking for a bright start to your morning or a deep, dark roast to power through the afternoon, CafePod’s ground coffee range offers the craft of a boutique roastery with the convenience your daily routine demands.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best ground coffee for a cafetière?

For a cafetière (French Press), a medium to coarse grind is best. If the grind is too fine, you may find excessive sediment in your cup or a bitter taste due to over-extraction. Most CafePod ground coffees are produced to an "omni-grind" consistency, which is expertly balanced to work perfectly in a cafetière, providing a rich, full-bodied flavour without the grit.

How should I store ground coffee?

To keep your coffee tasting fresh, store it in a cool, dry, and dark place—a kitchen cupboard away from the oven is ideal. Once opened, we recommend keeping the coffee in its original CafePod bag, tightly sealed, or transferring it to an opaque, airtight container. Avoid the fridge or freezer, as moisture and fluctuating temperatures can strip away the delicate oils and aromas.

What’s the difference between espresso grind and filter grind?

The main difference is the particle size. Espresso grind is very fine (like table salt or flour) because the water passes through the coffee quickly under high pressure. Filter grind is slightly coarser (like caster sugar) to allow water to flow through steadily under gravity. CafePod's ground range uses a versatile omni-grind that bridges this gap, though it is specifically optimised for filter and immersion methods.

Is CafePod's ground coffee suitable for all coffee machines?

Our ground coffee is ideal for manual brewers (cafetière, AeroPress, V60, Chemex) and electric filter machines. While it can be used in a Moka Pot or some home espresso machines, those who prefer a traditional, high-pressure espresso may find our Whole Bean range better suited for a finer, bespoke grind. Note: Ground coffee is not for use in Nespresso® or Dolce Gusto® pod machines.

Can I subscribe to CafePod ground coffee?

Yes! You can set up a coffee subscription for your favourite ground blends. Subscribing allows you to choose your delivery frequency so you never run out of your morning brew, and it typically comes with a "Subscribe & Save" discount, making it the most cost-effective way to enjoy award-winning coffee.

Are CafePod ground coffee bags recyclable?

Absolutely. Sustainability is at our core, which is why our ground coffee comes in 100% recyclable bags. Unlike many traditional coffee pouches that use mixed-material plastics, our packaging is designed to be easily processed by UK household recycling systems, helping you reduce your environmental footprint one cup at a time.

How much ground coffee should I use per cup?

For the perfect balance, we recommend starting with 60g of ground coffee per litre of water. For a standard 350ml cafetière, this works out to roughly two rounded tablespoons (approx. 21g). You can easily adjust this based on your personal preference—add a little more for a bolder "Supercharger" kick or slightly less for a lighter afternoon brew.
