Common questions

Which machines do your pods fit?

Our pods are compatible with Nespresso® Original machines and other machines that accept pods designed for the Nespresso Original system. The only exception being the Maestria range of machines.

Our pods are not compatible with Nespresso® Vertuo machines, nor Dolce Gusto, Lavazza & Tassimo machines.

Which one should I start with?

Brunch Blend if you take milk, Supercharger Espresso if you do not. Brunch is a 9, chocolate and caramel, and it is the one that keeps everyone round the table happy. Supercharger is a 12, the darkest we make, built for a short black.

Every pod carries a number from 8 to 12. Higher means darker and fuller, not more caffeine. Boxes of 10 are the trial size, and if you do not love it we will replace it or refund it.

Can I make a lungo or a long coffee with them?

Yes. Every pod works as an espresso or a lungo. Brunch Blend, Intense Roast, Daily Grind and Black Velvet are ground for a longer pour, so start there for lungo.

For an americano, pull an espresso and top it up with hot water. Do not run the same pod twice, the second cup is mostly water.

How much caffeine is in a pod?

Roughly 45 to 50mg as an espresso and 140 to 160mg as a lungo. The longer pour pulls more out of the same 5 to 6 grams of coffee, which is why the two numbers are so different.

Intensity is about taste, not caffeine, so a 12 has about the same caffeine as a 9. The decafs are CO2 decaffeinated with no solvents and carry no more than 4mg a pod.

How do I recycle the pods?

Tip the grounds out, give the pod a quick rinse and put it in with your other metal recycling. Aluminium recycles over and over without losing anything, so it is worth the ten seconds.

One thing to check first: not every council takes small aluminium items kerbside, because they can fall through the sorting machinery. If yours does not, a pod recycler press collects them until you have enough to be worth taking.

How long do they keep?

The best before is 12 months from roasting, and we aim to send pods with at least three months left, so a stock-up is fine. Each pod is sealed on its own, so an open box keeps as well as a closed one. Store them somewhere cool and dry.

Coffee does not go off on the date, it just slowly loses its edge. The date is when it is best, not when it stops being coffee.

What does delivery cost, and when will it arrive?

Free on one-off orders of £35 or more, £4.95 under that. Subscription orders are free from £25. The £35 is after any discount code, which is the bit that catches people out.

We pack within 48 hours and Royal Mail Tracked 48 usually lands it within two working days of that. Express and next-day options are at checkout.

What intensity actually means

Intensity is our 1 to 12 scale for roast depth and body, not caffeine. A 12 is darker and fuller, not stronger in caffeine. The pod range runs from 8 to 12.

We were one of the first UK brands to put serious coffee in a Nespresso® compatible pod, back when the choice was your machine's own pods or nothing. The point then is the point now. The machine is rarely the problem, it's usually the coffee inside the pod that lets it down.

The range runs from a balanced intensity 8 up to Supercharger at 12, which is the darkest thing we make. There are over twelve blends, including flavoured ones like salted caramel and vanilla, and a decaf people come back for. All of them fit any Original-line Nespresso® machine.

The pods are aluminium and 100% recyclable, and the coffee inside is ethically sourced. We sit at 4.9 out of 5 on Trustpilot, which is the number we'd want to see if we were the ones buying.

What Makes a Good Coffee Pod

Finding the right coffee pods shouldn’t mean giving up flavour or intensity. We have spent years working on our Nespresso® compatible pods so that every extraction gives you a thick crema and a proper flavour profile, whether you want a dark, smoky kick or a smooth, caramel finish. The range is built for people who want more from their morning coffee, with a spread of intensities and origins to pick from. It runs from our darkest Supercharger Espresso to the mellower Brunch Blend, and all of it fits an Original Line machine.

Recyclable Aluminium, and the Rest of the Range

The pods are aluminium and fully recyclable, so the convenience does not have to cost you a bin full of plastic. Past the standard espresso the range runs to decaf, flavoured and single origin, so there is one for most points in the day. If you get through a lot of them, the bulk packs or Subscribe & Save work out cheaper.
