What intensity actually means
Intensity is our 1 to 12 scale for roast depth and body, not caffeine. A 12 is darker and fuller, not stronger in caffeine. The pod range runs from 9 to 9.

Beans from Brazil, Honduras and Southern India, roasted a little longer than the rest of the range. That extra time in the roaster is where the malt loaf comes from, and it's also the line between dark and burnt. One of those is a decision and the other is a mistake, and you can taste which is which.
