Buying coffee for someone who loves coffee feels risky. You don't know their machine, you don't know how strong they take it, and there's a nagging worry you'll get it slightly wrong.
Here's the shortcut. Work out how they make it, and the gift more or less picks itself. Everything below is sorted that way, from pod machines to people who haven't got any kit yet.
Every CafePod coffee also has a strength number on the pack, from 8 to 12. If you know they like it strong, look for the higher numbers. That's the only coffee knowledge you'll need.
If they've got a pod machine
Worth a quick check before you buy: our coffee pods fit Nespresso® Original machines, not Vertuo.
Strong Coffee Bundle
Six of our strongest pods in one box. Smoky Joe and Supercharger Espresso at 12, Black Velvet at 11, then Brunch Blend, Intense Roast and Daily Grind. For the person who's up before the sun and wants the first cup to count.

Variety Coffee Bundle
Not sure how strong they take it? This is eight of our most popular blends, decaf included, so they can find their number themselves. It's the safest box on the list.

Decaf Coffee Bundle
For the one who's given up caffeine after four o'clock but not the taste. Decaf Brunch Blend at 8 and Decaf Supercharger Espresso at 11, so an evening cup still tastes like proper coffee.

Flavoured Coffee Bundle
You're So Vanilla and Call Me Caramel, with the coffee still doing most of the talking. Good for anyone who orders a flavoured latte and insists it's a one-off.

If they make it in a cafetière
A cafetière and a bag of something good
A cafetière is the easiest way to make coffee for a table full of people, which makes it a very good present in December. The Nerethus Large Cafetière holds 800ml and comes in matte black stainless steel. Pair it with a bag of ground coffee in whichever strength they like.

If they grind their own
Whole Bean Coffee Bundle
Six 200g bags of coffee beans, one of each blend: Daily Grind at 8, Intense Roast and Brunch Blend at 9, Supercharger at 12, plus Half-Caff and Decaf Brunch Blend. A fair test of which one they like best.

A coffee grinder
If they're still buying ground coffee, a grinder is the biggest upgrade you can give them. Coffee starts going flat the moment it's ground. Grind it fresh and the kitchen smells the way it should when you open a new bag.

If they haven't got any kit yet
AeroPress Starter Pack
An AeroPress plus three 200g bags of our best sellers: Supercharger, Brunch Blend and Intense Roast. It makes one good cup in a couple of minutes, the plunger wipes the chamber clean as you press, and it's light enough to take away for the weekend.
AeroPress Starter Pack or the AeroPress on its own

If they care how it looks
Vintage Italian moka pots
Sourced from Italy by Zoe at My Moka Home. Some are decades old, most are made in small batches, and when one sells there may not be another. They'll brew strong, espresso style coffee on the hob and look good doing nothing at all.

Hand-painted espresso cups
Magazin Minori paint every cup by hand in the Italian ceramic tradition, so no two are the same. An espresso goes cold in a big mug in under a minute. In a cup this size it stays together and stays hot.

If they're hosting New Year's Eve
Espresso Martini Kit with Glasses
The glasses and the kit to make espresso martinis properly at home. Put a box of Supercharger Espresso in with it and they've got everything bar the vodka.
