Melitta Bentz invented the paper coffee filter in 1908. The company still makes filter machines.

Three things here. The AromaFresh II at £220 has a grinder built into the top, so whole beans go in and a full jug comes out. The Molino grinder at £60 if you've already got a brewer you like. The Cremio II at £85, which heats and froths milk so you're not watching a pan.

Filter is the method where a lighter coffee has the most to say, so the single origins are worth trying in it. More filter machines and grinders.
