How to make it

Water into the base, up to just below the valve. Fine ground coffee into the basket, level, no pressing.

Screw the top on. Low to medium heat, lid open.

When it starts to gurgle, take it off the heat and pour. Low heat is the bit most people get wrong.

Which coffee works best

A moka pot wants a fine grind, and our ready-ground coffee isn’t fine enough for it. Buy beans and grind them yourself and you’ll taste the difference straight away.

Darker roasts are the ones to reach for. Dr Jones, Sin City, or Wake the Beast.

How does it work?

It sits between the hob and the pot. The plate is induction-compatible, so it heats up and passes that heat to the moka pot sitting on top.
Will it fit my moka pot?

It fits Bialetti moka pots from 1 to 9 cups. Other brands of a similar size generally sit on it fine too.
Do I still need it for the induction moka pot?

No. If you’ve got the Bialetti induction model, that goes straight on the hob.
