If your espresso has started tasting a bit off lately, it's probably not the coffee. Limescale builds up inside your machine over time and quietly affects how well it brews. A descale clears it out and gets everything back on track.

This is the smaller bottle, enough for one or two full cycles. Handy to keep in the cupboard and reach for when your machine's due a clean.

How to descale

Empty the water tank, then mix the descaler with water at the ratio on the bottle.

Run it through the machine as if you were making coffee, into a jug rather than a cup.

Then two or three tanks of clean water through, to rinse. Do not skip the rinse.

Which bottle should I buy?

This one if you want something in the cupboard for when the machine is due.

The 1 litre if you descale on a schedule and would rather not reorder.

The Durgol 750ml if it has been a long time and you want the one the trade uses.

How many descales will this do?

One or two full cycles. If you would rather stock up than top up, take the 1 litre bottle instead.
How do I know if my machine needs descaling?

If the coffee tastes flat, or the machine sounds like it is working harder than it used to, that is usually limescale. You cannot see it building up, which is why it is better done on a schedule than when you finally notice.
Will it work with my machine?

Most home espresso machines and coffee makers, yes. Check your manual if yours names a specific descaler.
