The Size 2 is the most popular V60 for home use, big enough to brew one to four cups at once, which means it works whether you're making just for yourself or for someone else too. It sits over a mug or a small jug, and the whole process takes about three minutes from start to finish.

Pour-over sounds involved, but it really isn't. Filter paper in, coffee in, pour hot water over it, and let it drip through into your mug. That's it. The result is a clean, flavourful cup, without bitterness, without guesswork.

Plastic version in white. Lighter and more durable than ceramic, and it keeps the water temperature steady during brewing. Works with V60 Size 02 filter papers (sold separately).

How to make it

Filter paper in, then two tablespoons of medium ground coffee.

Pour just enough hot water to wet all the coffee, and wait 30 seconds. It will puff up. That is meant to happen.

Then pour the rest slowly, in circles, until your cup is full. Lift the V60 off and bin the paper.

Which coffee works best

Medium grind, roughly the texture of table salt. Pour-over is the method that shows off a coffee most, so it is worth using something you actually like.

If it drips through too fast and tastes thin, grind finer. If it stalls, go coarser.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need filter papers?

Yes, and they are sold separately. Match the size to the dripper: Size 02 papers for a Size 2, Size 03 for a Size 3.
What grind do I need?

Medium, roughly the texture of table salt. If the water runs straight through, go finer.
White or clear?

Same brewer, same result. Clear lets you watch the water move through, white blends into a kitchen a bit more. Genuinely down to preference.
