Water passes through the coffee once and keeps going. Nothing sits and stews.

That's why filter gives you the clearest cup you can make at home, and why it's the method that shows up the difference between one coffee and another. A cafetière leaves the grounds sitting in the water the whole time, which gives you body but muddles the detail.

A V60 puts you in charge of the pour, which is the point of it and also the work. A Clever Dripper lets the coffee steep first and then opens a valve, so it's much easier to repeat. An AeroPress is the quickest. The Melitta machine does all of it for you.

Whichever you use, keep papers in the cupboard, and try the single origins in it.
